In 2016 the Paleontology Team from The Royal Ontario Museum announced the discovery of a NEW SPECIES of Raptor. In this case the new raptor is closely related to the Velociraptors. The surprisingly close evolutionary relationship of Acheroraptor to a group of late-occurring Asian species that also includes Velociraptor. Consequently it suggests that migration from Asia may have continued to shape North American dinosaur communities right up until the end of the Cretaceous period. Acheroraptor is the youngest species of dromaeosaurid, and is from the Hell Creek Formation
