The Shiva Linga, or Shiva Lingam, is a river rock found in the Narmada River of India. It is polished to a high sheen in a unique shape called an ellipsoid. They vary in size from an inch or so to several feet in length. They are usually shades of brown and white. These stones are specifically created for the worldwide metaphysical market as healing stones representing the “Cosmic Egg.”
The riverbed of the Narmada River in India is made of this crypto-crystalline Quartz. Every year at a certain time of year these stones wash up on shore that have been tumbled in the riverbed, which are then crafted into the egg shape by local artisans. They are considered very sacred and powerful in Indian culture and seen as a symbol of fertility. The stones are found naturally in only one place on earth at only one time of year.
