An obelisk is a tall, narrow, four-sided, tapering monument which ends in a pyramid-like shape at the top. These monumental structures originated in ancient Egypt, and were adopted by several later cultures including ancient Rome, the Byzantine Empire and the Islamic Empire. There are several ancient obelisks still standing today; however, once common worldwide, only a few remain.
The obelisk is a symbol of spiritual ascension, enlightenment, and transformation. Its symbolism represents the journey from darkness to light, from ignorance to wisdom, and from suffering to peace.
