This iron meteorite might have been observed in 1516, yet the fragments were not retrieved until the 1950’s. When a meteor such as this exploded in the atmosphere before striking the ground, the strewn field over there was 17 miles long by 5 miles wide. Indeed, with so much iron available it was collected for smelting to aid in the growing industrialization of China. However there was too much nickel in the iron and therefore could not be used.
