Stephanodus is a genus of fossil fish that lived in the Mesozoic era. It was described by Zittel in 1883.

Stephanodus is a rare species belonging to the Trigonodontoidae family.  Trigonodontoidae is a family of bony fishes. They are carnivores. They have sexual reproduction. They rely on anal and dorsal fin swimming to move around.

This type of specimens from the fossil record of the Upper Cretaceous phosphates of the Ouled Abdoun Basin are not common.
