 When first described Kemkemia was originally thought to be a spinosaurid theropod dinosaur,†‬and one with unusual vertebrae.†‬However,†‬three years after it was described,†‬a new paper re-identified the holotype specimen of as actually being a crocodyliformes. Due to a lack of a skeleton however, the debate is still ongoing.
