WHY IS IT CALLED “GRAPE AGATE”?

Because of its purple color and botryoidal (sphere-shaped) crystals, Grape Agate is named after a bunch of grapes. The small round crystals form together to look like grapes before they are plucked from the vine.

WHERE IS GRAPE AGATE FORMED?

The crystal is formed within the cavities of volcanic rocks, specifically in andesitic to basaltic rocks.

WHERE IS GRAPE AGATE FOUND?

It is found on the Island of Sulawesi in Indonesia.  It was first discovered on Manakarra Beach in Indonesia.  This beach is located midway along the coast of West Sulawesi. It had been carried there by the streams that cascaded down from the jungle-covered mountains that lie inland from the coast.
