- Description: Henbury meteorites are classified as Iron, IIIAB octahedrites and consist primarily of iron and nickel. When they are polished and etched, however, they reveal the beautiful Widmanstätten pattern, an interlocking crystal structure that formed as the parent asteroid cooled extremely slowly over millions of years in space. As a result, this remarkable pattern provides clear evidence of the meteorite’s ancient origin and slow cooling history. Because of its unique appearance, each specimen displays a one-of-a-kind crystal design. Therefore, Henbury meteorites are highly sought after by collectors, museums, and meteorite enthusiasts around the world.
