The Gebel Kamil meteorite is a type of iron meteorite found in 2009 in the East Uweinat Desert of Egypt, near the border with Sudan. It is famous for creating a large impact crater as well as having scattered thousands of metal fragments around the area. Scientists believe the meteorite hit Earth about 5,000 years ago.
