In the case of this group of crinoids they were present about 100 million years before the better known Mississippian Age Crawfordsville Crinoids. However, they are also beautifully detailed specimens.  Because of their “flower like” appearance, crinoids have been referred to as “sea lilies”, however they are in fact animals. But Crinoids belong to the phylum Echinodermata.
