  • Corythosaurus Dinosaur: The Crested Duck-Billed Dinosaur – Corythosaurus Tail Vertebra for Sale

The Corythosaurus dinosaur was a large, plant-eating dinosaur that lived about 77 to 75 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous Period. It lived in North America, especially in what is now Alberta, Canada. Today, scientists know Corythosaurus from many well-preserved fossils.

Corythosaurus belonged to the hadrosaur family. These dinosaurs are often called duck-billed dinosaurs because of their broad mouths. Moreover, Corythosaurus could move on two legs or all four. Adults reached about 9 meters (30 feet) in length.  Corythosaurus Tail Vertebra for Sale

However, the most famous feature of Corythosaurus was its large, rounded head crest. Inside the crest, complex nasal passages formed long tubes. Therefore, scientists think Corythosaurus may have used its crest to produce sounds. In addition, the crest may have helped these dinosaurs recognize one another.

Corythosaurus ate plants and had hundreds of closely packed teeth in its jaws. As a result, it could grind tough vegetation efficiently. Furthermore, replacement teeth continually took the place of worn teeth.

Finally, Corythosaurus fossils from Alberta help scientists understand Late Cretaceous ecosystems. Corythosaurus lived alongside horned dinosaurs, armored dinosaurs, other hadrosaurs, and large meat-eating dinosaurs. Consequently, this remarkable crested dinosaur belonged to one of prehistoric North America’s most diverse dinosaur communities.
