Description
This turtle endemic to the Galapagos Islands, is a giant tortoise. It is, along with the Seychelles turtle, one of the two most important species of land tortoise. A mature specimen can measure up to 4 feet and weigh 900 pounds! At present we can not give with certainty the life expectancy of this species, but it is estimated that it can live up to 200 years.
