- Placenticeras costatum Measures approximately 44cm. x 37cm (17 ¼” x 14 ½”) and weighs 5 kg (11 pounds). Very bright and beautiful ammonite with excellent shape and areas of bright colors. This ammonite has two very different sides. It displays reds, oranges, golds and greens with quite a lot of the rare blues on the first side and blues, greens and golds with flashes of oranges and reds on the second side. It has very pronounced ribbing and even has evidence of a fossilized oyster on top of the ammonite on the second side. It has excellent colors throughout and displays marvelous ribbing on both sides

Ammolite – A RARE gemstone material that forms on the outer shell of certain ammonites. It displays brilliant iridescent colors, much like opal or mother-of-pearl. Colors – Red and green are most common, but rare blues and purples are highly prized.
