The Gebel Kamil meteorite is an ungrouped iron meteorite discovered in 2009 in the East Uweinat Desert of Egypt, near the southern border with Sudan. It’s also known for a large impact crater it created as well as thousands of pieces of shrapnel found in and around the crater. In addition the meteorite is estimated to be around 5,000 years old.
